Among Sri Lanka’s economic development strategies, the transfer of skilled workers to foreign jobs has a prominent place. Also, the tendency of skilled workers from many countries in the Asian region to go for foreign jobs has increased. Due to this situation, competition has been created for the skills and qualities of skilled workers in the foreign employment market, such as professional competence, knowledge, attitude and personal discipline and behavior. There is no doubt that the skilled workers of the countries who have been trained at the optimum level for the above skills and qualities will have a high value in the foreign job market.
Therefore, the SMI Foreign Employment Agency has identified the need for a specific program to develop the skills and qualities of Sri Lankan skilled workers who are going to work abroad.
Accordingly, it is essential to provide training and understanding regarding the following matters to the skilled workers who are going for foreign jobs and create a clear interpretation of them to suit their jobs.
1. Training on the social, economic, cultural background and social values and manners of the country for foreign employment.
2. Training on general rules and etiquette of the respective state.
3. Basic training on the language used in the respective state to facilitate daily tasks and workplace tasks
The 05-day residential professional capacity development training course has been planned in order to achieve the above mentioned training objectives for the skilled workers who are going to work abroad in order to win the competitive foreign job market.
